Hi — I'm the editor here, and I look after the text and data side of 123calculators. I did not come to this from a computer-science background. I came to it as a former college tutor and freelance editor who spent an embarrassing number of evenings retyping students' marks into percentages, un-mangling essays that had been copied out of PDFs, and Googling "how to decode this thing my client sent me" for the hundredth time.

The pattern I kept noticing was that none of these were real problems — they were friction. Smart, capable people were losing ten minutes here and twenty minutes there to tasks that a browser should handle instantly. Most of the tools that could help were either buried inside intimidating developer software or wrapped in ads and signup walls. There was very little built for a student, a writer, or a small-business owner who just wanted the job done and their afternoon back.

So this part of the site became my answer to that. The mission is narrow and I like it that way: take the small, everyday chores of converting, encoding, decoding and tidying text and data, and make each one a single friendly button. No jargon, no assumptions that you already speak "developer," and no pretending a two-minute task deserves a fifty-page manual. If a tool here ever makes you feel stupid, I've failed at my job, and I want to hear about it.

I test these against the messiest real-world input I can find, because that is what people actually paste in — the stray spaces, the odd characters, the copy that came from somewhere weird. I'm also always adding new converters based on what people ask for, so if there's a format that keeps tripping you up, tell me.
